Delivered through the EMS Testing / Platinum Planner Assessment Center.
What it covers
The exam is the EMS Testing Assessment Center test, administered on the Platinum Planner platform the program also uses for course exams. It measures the knowledge you are expected to bring in the door, not paramedic content you have not learned yet. Expect sections on:
EMT-level knowledgeAirway and ventilation, patient assessment, cardiology and resuscitation, trauma, medical emergencies, obstetrics, pediatrics, and EMS operations at the EMT scope of practice.
Reading comprehensionPassages and questions that test whether you can read technical material quickly and pull out what matters. Paramedic school is reading-heavy; this section predicts how you will handle it.
Additional aptitude sectionsThe Assessment Center includes further sections on general academic readiness. Your session confirmation lists the exact sections and time allowed.
How to sign up
There is no separate registration. When you complete the online application, you choose your exam session from the dates above. The program confirms your session by email after the application deadline of October 5, 2026.
Bring a government-issued photo ID. Arrive early; late arrivals may not be seated.
How to prepare
Review your EMT material. Go back through your EMT textbook or the National Registry EMT test plan: airway, assessment, cardiology, trauma, medical, and operations. If your EMT class was a few years ago, this is the section most people underestimate.
Practice reading under time. Read a few pages of technical material, then summarize them without looking. The reading section rewards people who can find the point of a passage fast.
Get familiar with computer-based testing. The program’s own quizzes and exams run on the same platform at one minute per question, so treat the entrance exam as a preview of how you will be tested all year.
Rest. A timed exam punishes fatigue more than it punishes gaps in knowledge.
After the exam
The program reviews exam results alongside your application and admission items, and notifies every applicant of the decision. Two things to know in advance: a strong exam score does not earn advanced placement, because every admitted student completes the full program, and admission is not decided by the exam alone. If you are not admitted, you may apply again for the next class.
Applications close October 5, 2026.
